A bulldozer is an earthmoving machine designed to push large quantities of rubble, soil, sand, and other loose materials, they can level ground and contort gradients.

They are used to form pile mats due to the hi capability’s and works achievements and compaction ratios.

Over time, dozers have evolved to accommodate a variety of environments and applications with high levels of efficiency.

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  • Set up exclusion zone.
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for dozer use.
  • Prepare the dozer for use.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Environmental considerations.
  • Storage and transport of implements and attachments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation.
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.
  • Suitable and safe area to operate and manoeuvre machine.
  • There must be sufficient quantity of suitable material to form stockpile.
  • Varying terrain and slopes to operate machine.
  • Suitable area to perform slot trench excavation must be a minimum 20m in length.

  • Drive through restrictions forwards and backwards.
  • Drive and reverse the dozer in a straight line (min 50m) and through a restriction.
  • Slot dozer a straight trench and form a stockpile.
  • Trench depth: 1 metre in depth trench length: 20 metres.
  • Backfill the slot trench and compact area to original state.
  • Set blade and push 1 x blade width material from a stockpile and spread over ground evenly.
  • End of use checks.
  • Pass mark is less than 20 penalty points and no mandatory disqualifications.
  • Time allowed is 2 hours 45 minutes.
